Members: your spring wine selections were ready for you to pick up on April 16th so you can come in now to pick up or when ever is convenient.

Bring yourself, and family or guests out for a wine tasting! We have 22 kinds of wine and cheese and cracker to enjoy with the wines.  Come join us for a glass of fine wine.  Let us prove to you that Kentucky can compete in wine quality.  Located just south of historic Versailles, Kentucky and just minutes from Lexington, Kentucky our comfortable and charming space is the perfect to relax with others to or just escape to enjoy a glass of your favorite wine.

Wildside Winery has a great selection of wine styles.  We have seven dry red wines from medium mellow to big and dry.
We have dry white wines including Riesling and Seyval Blanc and a sparkling, "hard" pear-apple cider on tap.  We are making a Viognier white wine.  We also have  a Petit Sirah for the big tannin lovers coming out in the summer of 2013.  Finally, we are making a Champagne from our Cabernet Franc, pressed immediately to make a white wine that we are bottle fermenting.

Wildside Winery is also known exceptional berry wines such as blackberry, strawberry and blueberry all made from 100% fresh Kentucky fruit.  Our style is to have serious, undiluted, pure fruit wines, so you'll find that they have more flavor, color and body than others.  We don't just add juice or flavoring to a cheap grape wine, we make it from 100% pure fruit.

We also have a semi-sweet wine called "Sonata".  It is our Riesling style wine - very fruity, smooth and a little sweet.  We have two sweeter wines the fruity Niagara and the smooth and sweet Wild Rose, which is our rose' and is called for when a customer is looking for a white zinfandel or white Merlot.

  •     Winery News:

    • We just signed a contract with Morton Buildings to add on to our event room to make the room four times bigger.  This will allow events in the winter and more room year around in bad weather.  Construction is scheduled for July.
    • We now have a conditional use permit to have events at the winery!  We've been having them for eight years but were told that we were supposed to have a permit.  Luckily, everything worked out and we are now able to have events legally.  Now we can start the process of constructing a larger indoor event room.
    • Last year we built a storage and fermentation building.  We also have a refridgerator truck body for cold fermentation moved in place.   We are putting up a privacy fence around the working area behind the winery since that area can be messy due to construction, destemming and pressing wine.
    • Neil is now busy pruning 11 acres of grapes.
    • We are planting more Chambourcin, Vidal Blanc, and Traminette grapes this spring.  Traminette is a hardier hybrid of Gewurstraminer.

    • Check out our new On-line store, just click at the left panel
    • We are now serving quality beers by the drink on tap and in the bottle.
    • We have our home grown apple and pear hard cider on tap for only $1.50 a big glass.

Neil Vasilakes is the wine maker at Wildside Winery and he loves making wine.  He makes a large selection of traditional dry wines and is especially proud of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.   He also loves to explore unusual and interesting kinds of wine.  These unusual wines are often tricky to make and time consuming.  They are often made in small quantities and are usually from fresh local fruit.   A short list of the more unusual and interesting wines are our Black Barrel Reserve (BBR) previously known as Bourbon Barrel Red wine made with Cabernet,  our peach mead, fresh strawberry, hard cider, black walnut wine aged in Maker's Mark barrels and blueberry in a Makers barrel too.  Other special wines include our Port wine aged in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels, Pawpaw wine, dry Champagne (Blanc de Noir) from Cab Franc, and a sweet red wine that we call Dangerous.

Currently Fermenting: 2012 Blackberry wine, 2012 Cranberry wine, and 2012 Black Walnut wine.

Wildside Winery is very close to Keenland race track in Lexington, Kentucky.  It is convenient to stop in to the winery after Keenland for a wine tasting.
