Welcome to Wildside Winery your winery near Lexington Kentucky, the airport, and Keeneland racetrack!

Come join us for a glass of fine wine.  Let us prove to you that Kentucky can compete in wine quality.  Located just south of historic Versailles, Kentucky and just minutes from Lexington, Kentucky our comfortable and charming space is the perfect to relax with others to or just escape to enjoy a glass of your favorite wine.

Wildside Winery has a great selection of wine styles.  We have nine dry red wines from medium mellow to big and dry.
We have dry white wines including Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc and occasionally a dry. sparkling, hard pear-apple cider.

Wildside Winery is also known exceptional berry wines such as blackberry, strawberry and blueberry all made from 100% fresh Kentucky fruit.  Our style is to have serious, undiluted, pure fruit wines, so you'll find that they have more flavor, color and body than others.  We don't just add juice or flavoring to a cheap grape wine, we make it from only that fruit.

We also have a semi-sweet wine called "Sonata".  It is our Riesling style wine - very fruity, smooth and a little sweet.  We have two sweeter wines the fruity Niagara and the smooth and sweet Wild Rose, which is our rose' and is called for when a customer is looking for a white zinfandel or white Merlot.

Cranberry, Cherry and a very Dry Kentucky Cabernet Franc are just released for your enjoyment.

    Recent Headline News:

    • Construction:  Are you wondering what's going on behind our building?  We have a refridgerator truck body for cold fermentation moved in place.   We are putting up a privacy fence around the working area behind the winery since that area can be messy due to construction, destemming and pressing wine.  We have a couple phases of construction that we are starting.  First we are adding a lean-to expansion for more winemaking space.  Then next year we will be adding on to the back of the event room to make that room much bigger.
    • We just leased a 6 acre vineyard three miles away and Neil will be now managing 11 acres of grapes in total.  This vineyard is two acres of Cabernet Franc and two acres of Reisling, and two acres of Vidal Blanc.  We will be working this winter to recover the vines from a year of neglect and we plan on bringing them back to make super high quality wines that will be released in 2013.
    • In addition we will be planting more Chambourcin and Traminette grapes this spring.  Traminette is a hardier hybrid of Gewurstraminer.
    • We won a Silver medal for our Cabernet Franc at the Indy International wine competition, and three Silver medals for the different categories below at the Kentucky State Fair Commercial Wine Contest!

We got a silver medal for our "Duet" dry red blend.
We got silver for Chambourcin "Dangerous" sweet red.
We got a silver medal for "Wild Rose" our blush blend.

We are now serving quality beers by the drink.

Neil Vasilakes is the wine maker at Wildside Winery and he loves making new and interesting kinds of wine.  These unusual wines are often tricky to make and  time consuming.  They are often made in small quantities and are usually from fresh local fruit.   A short list of the interesting wines are our Bourbon barrel red wine made with Cabernet,  our peach mead, fresh strawberry, hard cider, black walnut wine aged in Maker's Mark barrels and we are working on a blueberry in a Makers barrel too.  Another special wine is our Port wine.  It's aged in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels.  And last but not least, we finally made a sweet red wine that we call Dangerous.

Wildside Winery is very close to Keenland race track in Lexington, Kentucky.  It is convenient to stop in to the winery after Keenland for a wine tasting.

Neil, Rachel, Jim, Karen, Sonya, Rafael and Kati are here to make your visit an enjoyable and memorable one.  We look forward to providing a wide range of exciting wines for you to explore in a comfortable, friendly environment.   Lets talk about wine, winemaking, vine growing and your preferences in wine.
