Summer Isn't Finished Yet

Blackberry bushes loaded with berries at Wildside Winery.

One of my favorite things about farming is that nature doesn't care what date is on the calendar.

We can plan festivals, print schedules, and circle weekends months in advance, but the vineyard, flower fields, and blackberry patch always have the final say.

This year, the blackberries decided they weren't quite finished.

We planned for Blackberry Days to come to an end, but the bushes are still full, so we're extending the opportunity to come pick. If you've been hoping to spend an afternoon in the blackberry patch, there's still time.

Our Blackberry Days experience is simple. Pick as many berries as you'd like, take home half of what you pick, and we'll keep the other half to create the blackberry wines, slushees, and seasonal treats so many of you enjoy throughout the year. It's one of our favorite ways to share the harvest.

While you're here, the vineyard is putting on quite a show.

Thousands of zinnias are blooming between the grapevines, butterflies drift from flower to flower, and honeybees are busy doing exactly what honeybees do. Build your own bouquet for just $1 per stem, then wander a little longer. Some of the best afternoons aren't planned—they simply unfold one slow step at a time.

Of course, there's plenty more to enjoy while you're here.

  • 🍷 Award-winning Kentucky wine tastings

  • 🧀 Artisan charcuterie boards and local snacks

  • 🍇 Complimentary Blackberry Days picking

  • 🌸 Pick-your-own zinnias for $1 per stem

  • 🎶 Live music every weekend

  • 🌿 Peaceful vineyard views with no admission to visit

A Little Something for Our Wine Club Members

This Wednesday, our Wine Club members get to help us create something new.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been quietly working on a brand-new Wildside wine cheese recipe. After more batches than I care to admit (and plenty of taste testing!), I've narrowed it down to a couple of favorites.

Now I need your help.

Wine Club members will be our official tasting panel, sampling each recipe and sharing honest feedback to help decide which one earns a permanent place at Wildside.

If you're a member, I hope you'll join us Wednesday from 4:00–7:00 PM. I can't wait to hear what you think.

If you're not a member yet, we'd love to welcome you.

As summer begins to wind down in some places, it feels like it's still very much alive here.

The flowers are blooming.

The berries are waiting.

The wine is chilled.

And there will always be a place waiting for you on the deck.

We'll see you soon.
